I was commissioned by the American poet and writer, Eddie Black, to create a book cover for his new book: Us Hard Few.
I was tasked with everything from the artwork to the graphic design, sizing, and formatting.

First sketch.
Describing the style I wanted to use. Eddie fell in love with the drama of this horse.
My initial plan was to fully render this piece in the same style as the first horse, but Eddie liked the ethereal space created by deleting the details on the other horses.
Describing the flow of the piece to Eddie. We settled on a sepia colour palette which I think conveys perfectly the atmosphere of Eddie’s writing.
